01Problem

The problem

The homepage had grown by accretion. Section order followed build order rather than the visitor's decision path, five sections used red eyebrows at 3.7:1 contrast, a performance claim on the page was invented, and eight landing pages quoted prices that no longer existed.

02Build

What I built

  • A written audit first, then the fix: sections reordered around the buyer's questions, a colour system where each colour means one thing (membership, compatible/free, section labels), and a pricing card that promotes the plan the business wants sold.
  • Every contrast failure resolved, reduced-motion respected across all animations, the fabricated speed claim removed, and the stale price claims corrected across the landing-page template.
  • A membership card showing real savings percentages, and a focus ring that passes on the brand's dark background.

03Decisions

The decisions that mattered

Anyone can list a stack. These are the calls that changed the outcome.

Red as wallpaper stops meaning anything

The brand red was on every eyebrow. Reserving it for one job, the membership, made it a signal again.

Remove claims you cannot back

A "1.2s" speed number had no measurement behind it. It was deleted rather than defended.

Mobile gallery at two columns

The single-column gallery on mobile was the longest scroll on the page for the least information. Two columns halved it.

What I'd do next

  • Measure conversion before and after in GA4 once the change has a full month live.
